Your operations rely heavily on fast, reliable internet access. Whether you are looking for more bandwidth in your current office, moving your startup into its first official space, or want to upgrade your home-based business’ connection, there are three types of internet connections you should be aware of before you make a decision regarding your connection:
- ADSL Broadband—Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line internet connections use technology that enables existing copper phone loans to meet faster download and upload requirements. While you may remember being unable to talk on the phone while browsing the internet, ADSL broadband has evolved to fix this issue, so two users can use the same line at once without interference. One of the key benefits of this type of connection is the price – telephone companies already own tons of copper wiring throughout many areas, and this wiring can quickly be converted for ADSL purposes.
- NBN HFC Hybrid Fibre Coax Broadband—These internet connections combine a slower coaxial cable with fibre optic cables. Like a traditional phone lines, the coaxial connections are made from copper, but are designed to exclusively transport high volumes of data using radio signals. Since cable broadband was created for the purpose of carrying high data volumes, it offers much faster speeds, often up to 100 Mbps.
- Fibre (FTTN or FTTC) Broadband—The fastest broadband technology currently on the market, these internet connections use optical fibres, which are made out of thin glass that transmits light from one source to another. Since these cables are not subject to electromagnetic interference, they can provide extremely high speeds complemented by exceptional reliability.
- 4G Mobile Broadband – 4G data offers fast internet speeds running on the mobile network and allows quick, easy-to-install internet for areas that are struggling with ADSL and NBN is not available.
